Convert a numeric amount to words in Javascript

In a web form, if you accept a dollar amount as a number and need to convert it to words, say to print a check or a voucher, the JavaScript code below will do that for you.

To use the code, insert the snippet below into a numeric input field "f1", then the JavaScript function will populate the amount words into field "f2", if  it is blank :

   onblur="getAmtInWords('f1','f2')"

These functions will handle any amount up to $999,999,999,999.99 - which a penny shy of a trillion dollars.

Adding another 3 or 4 lines of code can extend these functions to handle an amount up to 1,000 trillion :-)

These functions operate on a text string, so they are independent of the maximum integer size & maximum floating point number size of the machine / browser you are using.

Enjoy !
